The Bags Under My Eyes are Pravda, 2017-2018

In this series of 12” x 16” mixed media paintings and painted PVC bags I conflate the flow of value with a body parts. Using the designs from Prada’s Spring Summer 2016 women’s line, I found ways of turning the patterns and colors into segments of bodies.
The PVC bags are copies from the 2016 spring collection as well, some have resin oozing out of them some have fountains of color inside pumping in them.

Pravda means truth in Russian there is also a line of knockoff Prada merchandise labeled Pravda. Pravda is also the infamous news paper of the Bolshevik party. Miuccia Prada was once a communist and got a Phd in political science now she is the head designer and CEO of Prada.
